RIX STORM S3R V2 3.5x LRF Thermal Scope

The RIX STORM S3R V2 takes the compact, lightweight STORM platform and upgrades the features that matter most for image quality, rangefinding, precision, and shooter comfort. Built around a 384×288, 12μm thermal sensor with <15mK thermal sensitivity, the S3R V2 delivers enhanced target definition and thermal detail, even in challenging conditions. A 35mm F/1.0 objective lens, 3.5× base magnification, 4× digital zoom, and RIX RET image processing make it well suited for identifying and engaging targets at extended distances.

Compared with the original S3R, the V2 improves thermal sensitivity from <25mK to <15mK while retaining the 3.5× base magnification. The previous 1024×768 display has also been replaced with a larger 0.49” 1920×1080 rounded AMOLED display, providing a sharper and more immersive sight picture. Extended 52mm eye relief further improves viewing comfort and positioning behind the optic.

The integrated laser rangefinder receives a major upgrade, extending maximum range from 1,312 yards to 2,187 yards. Combined with built-in ballistic calculation, the S3R V2 provides effective aiming solutions for longer-range shooting. Improved 0.43 MOA-per-click zero adjustments and a finer reticle design allow for more precise corrections than the previous generation.

RIX has also redesigned the optic around bolt-action rifle use. The laser rangefinder has been moved to the left side of the housing to provide additional bolt clearance, while the raised and extended quick-detach mount helps achieve proper eye relief and positioning. The QD release lever has also been moved to the left side. Raised, tactile controls improve ergonomics and make the optic easier to operate while wearing gloves.

Power comes from a non-proprietary, replaceable 18650 battery system providing up to four hours of runtime. Two batteries are included, and the USB-C connection allows the optic to be powered externally when longer operating times are required.

Additional features include onboard photo and video recording with audio, a built-in microphone, Wi-Fi and RIX+ app connectivity, wireless firmware updates, Freeze Frame Zeroing, multiple zeroing profiles, six thermal color palettes, and nine reticle styles. A threaded eye-cup, IP67-rated housing, and recoil resistance up to 6,000 Joules help ensure the S3R V2 is ready for demanding field conditions and heavy-recoiling rifles.
